“Active participation” requires the timely submission of the assignments.Contents
The aim of the course is to provide participants with a solid foundation for the further course of studies regarding academic work and writing. At the end of the course participants will understand the fundamentals of academic research and scientific writing within Translation Studies and they will know how to apply the theoretical knowledge in practical exercises.Throughout the semester topics discussed incude:
- What is academia/science?
- What is academic/scientific research and writing?
- Basics and methods of Translation Studies (research, empirical work and statistics)
- Text-type oriented writing
- Scientific writing (e.g. structuring a thesis or term paper, formulating research questions, etc.)
- Correct citation
Additional information
The course is a blended learning programme, i.e. face-to-face sessions are complemented by the opportunities for collaboration offered by the internet and new media. A basic level of media competence or willingness to engage with new media is therefore expected.The course language is German.
