As we are now so well-versed at rising to a challenge, let's do it it all again in 2021. Happy New Year!
1st International Easy Language Day Conference (IELD)
27-28 May 2021
Anna Matamala (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain)
Last year, May 28 was officially declared the International Easy Language Day based on the date that the founding documents of Inclusion Europe were signed in 1988. As one of the most fruitful initiatives in its field, Inclusion Europe advocates for “equal rights and full inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and their families in all aspects of society” (Inclusion Europe). Accessibility and comprehensibility of information have been central demands right from the beginning and are still the main pivotal issues for all people involved (e.g. researchers, practitioners, members of target groups) all over the world today.
To keep this spirit alive and do justice to the growing interest and awareness as well as to support international dialogue, discussion and exchange on the topic, we are excited to announce that the International Easy Language Day Conference (IELD ) 2021 will be hosted by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in Germersheim, Germany on and around this very noteworthy date. IELD 2021 will be held as a 100% virtual conference.
