Speyer

Close-by and connected via S-Bahn train transit the town of Speyer is the next alternative for conference accommodation. The picturesque town founded by the romans is one of the oldest German cities. With the over a 1000 year old World Heritage Site cathedral which is grave to several German kings and Holy Roman emperors and several other point of interest it only a 15 min train ride away from the conference town Germersheim.

Mannheim

Approximately 40 min away from Germersheim the city of Mannheim offers the widest range of accommodations. Mannheim with its streets and avenues laid out in a grid pattern, leading to its nickname "die Quadratestadt" ("city of the squares"), offers more than 40 hotels in every category and is on the high-speed railway line that directly connects you to Frankfurt airport. Germersheim is also connected via S-Bahn train transit (approx. 40 min – 1h).

Karlsruhe

Approximately 30 min away from Germersheim, and on the right bank of the Rhine lies Karlsruhe. The city lies near the French-German border, between Mannheim/Ludwigshafen in the north and Strasbourg/Kehl in the south. The city with its fan-shaped layout is called “Fächerstadt” (“folding fan city”) and is connected to Frankfurt airport via high-speed railway line and to Germersheim via S-Bahn train transit (30 to 50 min). Note that there are two types of trains going to Germersheim: the S-Bahn and the Stadtbahn (S51 and S52). While S-Bahn only serves Karlsruhe main station, the Stadtbahn serves tram stations in the city center and smaller train stations along the way to Germersheim. By train

There are two stations near to the university: "Germersheim" and "Germersheim-Mitte/Rhein". From the station "Germersheim", the main station, it takes approximately 20 minutes on foot to reach the faculty; "Germersheim-Mitte/Rhein" is close to the faculty (on foot approximately 10 minutes), but only being served by about every other train. At Germersheim-Mitte/Rhein, there are three platforms, two are served by the Stadtbahn (S51 and S52) and the upper platform is served by S-Bahn (S3, S33).
