No previous knowledge of accesible communication or Easy Language is required to register for this course. The content and materials will be viewed and discussed together in class. It will then be made available in Moodle.

Anwesenheitspflicht

The academic assessment of this course is based on active participation in
the weekly sessions and completion of the practical exercises.

Digital teaching

Although active participation is not tied to specific session dates, the content of the sessions must be prepared for and followed up on, e.g. by submitting semester-related assignments on time.

The course is conceived strictly as an in-person course.

Accessibility and accesible communication play an increasingly important role in society. Accessible texts are one way of reducing communication barriers. This focus is therefore of general interest to text creators and therefore also in the context of translation. In this exercise, students will be given an overview of the existing accessible language varieties, their ‘sets of rules’ and their areas of application and users.
In the practical part, students will have the opportunity to apply various translation strategies to different types of text based on selected 'sets of rules' and, if necessary, to work recipient-orientated.
