Contents

This project seminar focuses on the translation of an authentic project (most likely text type: websites/institutional context) from standard German into a comprehensibility-optimised variety of German such as Easy Language in the context of accessible communication. As part of the seminar, we will look at the concept “Easy Language” from different viewpoints such as linguistics, translation studies and social policy before we start translating. Analysing the source text and target group will be just as much a part of the translation work as quality assurance and glossary creation (if applicable, insight into time and project management). Among other things, the possible uses of different translation technologies will be examined for the translation work.

Additional information

The examination consists of the documentation and textualisation of the insights and findings gained during the course in a scientific format. Preparation for the sessions (reading specialised literature, presentations, research, if necessary) and active participation in class are a matter of course.
