The phenomenon of 'Easy Language' is experiencing a certain dynamic in the German-speaking world, especially in connection with accessibility and inclusion. Easy Language is intended to help people who, for various reasons, have problems understanding complex texts in the standard German language and/or cannot read well, to understand texts better. The aim is to make it easier for these people to access information and to participate in public communication.This proseminar is a project seminar and offers both a theoretical and a practical introduction to Easy language in the context of intralingual translation.
First, small groups develop certain theoretical questions around the topic and put them up for discussion. The knowledge gained from this is then applied in an (authentic)* translation project.
Active participation and a certain degree of self-organization are expected.
Basis of evaluation: presentation, translation, portfolio/term paper.
*until the beginning of the first registration phase, there was no commitment for an authentic project. We continue to work on it.
