Modern methods of digital language processing represent words mathematically. This makes it possible to create complex models with which texts can be translated automatically. However, these mathematical representations are also used for many other purposes – search engines allow a dialogue with the user, but the automatic generation of texts is also possible on this basis. In this seminar you will deal with the basics of modern digital language processing with the aim of being able to compare individual words, sentences and texts in terms of their semantic similarities – within one language and across languages. You will thus be able to compare large amounts of language data in terms of their semantic similarity. Active participation and a small research paper are necessary for passing.Dates
